POSITION SUMMARY
USA Lacrosse is looking for an experienced Human Resource (HR) Generalist who will work directly with the Director, Human Resources to provide HR support in all areas, including, but not limited to, HR operations and administration, HRIS management, payroll, recruitment, onboarding, benefits administration, compliance, employee relations, performance management, training and development, and offboarding. A Typical Day Looks Like…
HR Administration & Support
- Partners with the Director, Human Resources to provide HR support for USA Lacrosse employees on all HR related policies, processes, questions, and concerns. This includes administration of HR processes and programs such as benefits, policy development and enforcement, recruitment, onboarding, performance management, training, employee relations, and offboarding to ensure alignment with the mission, values, and culture of USA Lacrosse.
- Maintains employee data In the HRIS using ADP, ensuring compliance, confidentiality, and protection of employee information. This includes confirming accurate and up to date employee records, running reports, and ensuring employees have necessary training to efficiently use and navigation the HRIS system.
- Interprets and advises employees and managers on the company HR policies, procedures, employment law, and other compliance regulations to ensure consistent application, enforcement, and accountability at all levels. This includes escalating matters to the Director, Human Resources and other members of the leadership team as necessary.
- Assists with the coordination of the offboarding process, such as facilitation of employee transition and ensuring all necessary systems have been disabled for a smooth exit process. This includes monitoring and analyzing turnover patterns and partnering with the Director, Human Resources to provide insights to address workforce and employee engagement challenges to find effective solutions.
- Supports the Director, Human Resources with any HR related research, including policy and procedure revision and development, job descriptions, employee training, employee surveys, employee event planning and execution, and other HR specific initiatives and projects.
Recruitment & Talent Acquisition
- Partners with the Director, Human Resources to manage the full-cycle recruitment process, supporting hiring managers as they develop their recruitment strategies, ensuring compliance with USA Lacrosse's recruitment process and standards, and maintaining the applicant tracking system (ATS).
- Assists hiring managers by using traditional and non-traditional resources and techniques to identify and attract qualified candidates from a diverse applicant pool. This includes sourcing for candidates to ensure USA Lacrosse has a qualified pool of diverse candidates for all positions.
- Partners with hiring managers to ensure candidates are receiving thorough and timely communication throughout the recruitment process.
- Owns the new hire onboarding process, collaborating with the hiring manager and internal departments to ensure a seamless transition into the organization. This includes coordinating onboarding/orientation schedules and ensuring equipment and system set up, new hire paperwork, compliance training, and benefits enrollment are complete to set new team members up for success at USA Lacrosse.
Payroll & Benefits Administration
- Prepares and processes multi-state bi-weekly payroll, ensuring accurate and timely delivery. This includes reviewing timecard and PTO approvals, researching and resolving discrepancies or issues, and completing the per pay and monthly payroll reconciliation for the general ledger (GL) entry for Finance.
- Creates, runs, analyzes, and distributes standard and ad hoc HR reports for audits, compliance, and workforce planning.
- Troubleshoots payroll system issues and coordinates with the payroll provider for support as needed to ensure resolution.
- Assists with the oversight and maintenance of all USA Lacrosse benefits plans, including benefits enrollments, changes, answering benefits questions, and resolving issues. Escalates benefits issues to KELLY Benefits for research and resolution as needed. This includes monitoring and tracking benefits changes and invoice reconciliation for all USA Lacrosse’s benefits.
- Assists with managing employee leaves (i.e., FMLA, maternity, parental, etc.), ensuring compliance with all employment laws, regulations, and requirements.
- Assists the Director, Human Resources with the annual benefits renewal and Open Enrollment to ensure throughout communication, employee understanding, and a smooth and seamless enrollment process for all employees.
Professional Development
- Maintains knowledge of employment laws (state, local, and federal) and stays up to date on compliance and HR industry trends to help manage organizational risk and implement best practices. This includes completing self-identified and company identified professional development to stay current in the field of HR.
- Supports changes in USA Lacrosse's organizational structure, policies, and practices while championing change and being an advocate for both USA Lacrosse and its employees.
Is This You…
- 3 to 5 years of experience in human resources providing administrative and employee facing support in multiple areas of the discipline, including, but not limited to recruitment, benefits administration, payroll, training, employee relations, and performance management. Professional in Human Resources (PHR) or Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) certification a plus.
- Previous work experience in a non-profit, association, or other member-based organization a plus.
- Experience maintaining data and navigating HRIS systems with the ability to train users.
- Strong knowledge of multi-state payroll processing, payroll tax regulations and compliance, and payroll controls, including end-to-end payroll processing with the ability to research and resolve discrepancies. This includes payroll accounting, reconciliation, and general ledger entry knowledge and experience. Experience using ADP Workforce Now a plus.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality, provide excellent customer service, and build trusted and effective working relationships with employees at all levels of the organization.
- Ability to actively listen and understand the facts, see the big picture, and understand potential impact on employees/departments/organization to conduct risk analysis for effective management and conflict resolution.
- Ability to conduct research for purposes of policy development and other HR related organizational projects. This includes taking a proactive approach to your professional development to stay up to date on changes and trends in the field of HR and employment law.
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft 365 products, specifically Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Experience with Salesforce a plus.
- Strong knowledge using HRIS systems with the aptitude to learn new platforms. Applicant tracking system (ATS) experience a plus.
- Strong organizational skills, ability to multi-task, problem solve, meet required deadlines, and exceptional attention to detail and follow up/through skills.
- Strong communication skills, including written, verbal, and interpersonal. This includes the ability to explain things in an easy-to-understand manner.
- Ability to exercise discretion and understanding how to handle confidential information.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team in a hybrid (in-office/remote work) environment in a fast-paced, "roll up your sleeves" environment to deliver results.
- Energetic and proactive "go-getter" with the ability to present a professional "customer first" persona to build relationships and establish credibility and trust.
- Willingness to be flexible with work schedule to work occasional nights and/or weekends to support USA Lacrosse events in support of our mission as needed.

Expected Hours of Work
This position is generally expected to work Monday through Friday from 8:30am to 5:00pm and occasionally requires longer hours or weekend work as related to events and other business needs. This is a hybrid position and works from the headquarters office in Sparks, MD three (3) days a week with the flexibility to work from home two (2) days a week.
Compensation & Benefits Overview
The base pay range for this position is $50,000 to $65,000, commensurate with experience, plus opportunity for annual incentive pay.

Travel Requirements
Travel may be necessary up to 10% of the time (local, regional). Travel would involve the following mode(s) of travel: car, train, or air. Some out of area and overnight travel may be expected.
