POSITION SUMMARY
USA Lacrosse is looking for an experienced Staff Accountant to support our Finance team. In this role you will assist with all financial activities, focusing on accounts receivable (A/R), accounts payable (A/P), and preparing general ledger (G/L) journal entries. You will get to work with all team members by providing overall support for activities including, but not limited to, analyzing accounts, reconciling Balance Sheets Accounts, and supporting the annual budget process. As a hands-on team member, you will partner with the team to identify areas of opportunity in our internal controls and policies, continually reviewing departmental processes and procedures to identify areas for optimization and/or automation to enhance efficiency, effectiveness, and accuracy.

A Typical Day Looks Like…
Accounts Receivable
- Ensures all invoices are processed and receipts are applied in a timely and accurate fashion. This includes meeting regularly with other departments to review aged receivables for collections and following up if there are questions/concerns as needed.
- On a monthly basis, ensures all Salesforce transactions are accounted for, issues statements, and reconciles vendor schedules and accounts receivable (A/R) sub-ledger accounts to the general ledger (G/L).
- Creates journal entries for all deposits not processed through the accounting software.
- Regularly monitors processes and updates standard operating procedures (SOPs) as needed. This includes making recommendations for improvements and/or automation when appropriate.
Accounts Payable
- Processes accounts payable (A/P) invoices accurately and according to the established schedule. This includes matching invoices against purchase orders when applicable and matching payment amounts to invoices, researching and resolving any discrepancies.
- Assists with the reconciliation and syncing of expense reports processed through Ramp.
- Prepares sales and use tax returns and stays abreast of any updates on the various states' sales and use tax filing requirements.
- Researches aged outstanding checks for proper address and delivery to reduce state unclaimed property liability.
- Annually prepares Form 1099 and 1096. This includes maintaining W9 forms.
Finance Departmental Support
- Prepares investments and other cash journal entries.
- Completes monthly reconciliation of inventory across multiple locations. This includes comparing physical inventory to system records and identifying and resolving any discrepancies.
- Completes monthly reconciliation of retail sales including proper revenue allocations across departments, confirming retail deposits to bank statements, and ensuring fees and cash are accurately reflected in the GL for the retail department.
- Assists with monthly reconciliation of balance sheet accounts and annual budget preparation, forecasts, and year-end audits.
- Clearly and concisely communicates financial information, policies, and procedures to non-financial managers.
Is This You…
- At least two (2) years of general accounting experience, including knowledge of A/P, A/R, and GL accounting practices and procedures.
- Knowledge of GAAP with analytical skills.
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft 365 products, specifically Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Experience working with accounting software and prior experience with Salesforce and Sage Intacct a plus.
- Aptitude to learn new computer programs and software.
- Strong organizational skills, ability to multi-task, problem solve and meet required deadlines.
- Exceptional attention to detail and follow up/through skills. This includes the ability to conduct basic research if something does not look right or there is a discrepancy.
- Strong communication skills, including written, verbal, and interpersonal.
- Ability to exercise discretion and understand how to handle confidential information when necessary.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team in a fast-paced, "roll up your sleeves" environment to deliver results.

Expected Hours of Work
This position is generally expected to work Monday through Friday from 8:30am to 5:00pm and occasionally requires longer hours or weekend work as related to events and other business needs. This is a hybrid position and works from the headquarters office in Sparks, MD three (3) days a week with the flexibility to work from home two (2) days a week.
Compensation & Benefits Overview
The total compensation pay range (inclusive of base salary plus annual incentive pay potential) for this position is $55,000 to $65,000, commensurate with experience.

Travel Requirements
Travel may be necessary up to 10% of the time (local, regional). Travel would involve the following mode(s) of travel: car, train, or air. Some out of area and overnight travel may be needed if working an event.
